My bokje and elephant

Image
Well, I am back to my blog. School starts back today and I do NOT feel organised and ready for a new year! A few unexpected things happened and I am still only up to day 7 of the 15 day clutter free challenge! My son had a day off work last friday and so we pulled up the 30 year old carpet in the loungeroom, so you can imagine the disruption that causes.  This HAS to be my decluttering year! But... I don't like a stark empty house either  :) And I hate waste and throwing things out. I'd rather find another home for something or recycle it in some way. We all buy too much and throw away too much. I love it when I have something but I am sick of it so I put it away in the back of a cupboard for a while. Suddenly, one day I see the beauty in it again and out it comes to go on display.  At that point I am so happy that I didn't throw it away. Ahh and it didn't cost me a cent! This beautiful elephant is enjoying the glorious sunlight again after be

Dog House Renovation

I am enjoying the decluttering tips from  Glynnis Whitwer . I made a BIG list of all my "Things to do" and it felt good to get it all on one big piece of cardboard with columns for every topic. I will tell you more about my decluttering pursuits later. I am actually going to have a little blogging break while I get stuck into some things.   For now I thought you might like to see my biggest house renovation ever!   A w hole house renovated and refurbished in less than a day. (Well, 2 half days actually). This house belongs to our "Max".  (Remember when Max chose my free give-away winner? ) This is the "Before" shot. Ugly inside and out. Definitely would not turn any heads in the Real Estate market. Out you go Max. We'll pay for you to go off on a luxury day away, all expenses paid, while we do a complete makeover of your home! I used the same outdoor paint we have on the outside of our house. The Blue and Cream are

Prayer... an afterthought?

So I was wanting to get into the de-cluttering challenge from  Glynnis Whitwer  and as I read the first day she stopped me in my tracks. I feel like a marathon runner who wants to get started with the running and someone has told me to stop and take a drink of water and look at the map so I actually know where I am running to. OK. That really does make sense. She is talking to her audience as Christians, saying STOP! How about we look at the problem of "Too much stuff in too small a space" a little later and first pray about what we are wanting to do with our "stuff". It made me realise how often I dive into the deep end of things and then pray afterwards. Prayer isn't just a magical chant. It is really talking to the maker of the Universe! The God who knows all things and can do all things is wanting to listen to little old me. He wants me to bring everything to Him and He answers me, not always giving me what I think is a good idea, but what He knows I need

Decluttering 3,2...1

I was keen to receive my first decluttering email and eagerly checked my inbox. Oh, that's right, it is coming from the northern hemisphere, so they are still finishing off Sunday while here I am keen to start my Monday decluttering! OK, I will let them sleep. I will start the challenge tomorrow. If you are interested, click here  and put your email address in the white space on the right. You will then receive in your emails a daily decluttering blurb to inspire you. I hope she doesn't expect me to tackle the garage. That is just asking too much! Maybe I will make some headway with the family paper work! source

Declutter!

OK, it's January and things are about to speed up again as the wheels of 2012 start spinning! I hope you had a nice few weeks after the busy Christmas time. I don't know where to start in my house at the moment so... I am going to do a 15 day declutter challenge which I found on a blog by Glynnis Whitwer . She says about her challenge: " You probably know I’ve written a book called “ I Used to Be So Organized .”  The basis of any type of organizing is purging unnecessary items.  After all, why spend any time organizing stuff that shouldn’t be there in the first place?  So I decided perhaps it would be best to focus on eliminating clutter.  So beginning January 9th, I’ll be hosting a 15-day Clutter-Free Challenge on my blog.  Each Monday through Friday for three weeks, I’ll offer tips on how to clear out the extra stuff in our lives. If you’d like to lighten the clutter in your thoughts, schedule and home, please sign up today to receive my posts.  You aren’t oblig
