How are you coping with the latest 'delta-induced' lockdown? I do hope and pray you are doing OK. If you are getting bored, you can read here about some of the things I have been doing over the past month...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP5zl9kq_r5Cej7VuE19L-HVC4ejT-Uz8mximBsAvPzocRdun26pJQbjEC0UAP7QOWjUw0LqZgQtvVisXCu1tPScQZjiA5CEj8w1psL6fhN4kiVqJgEUTGgXkEzi_3nxkRQZCW6v1Vifc/s2048/0DC4F344-5E4C-44DF-A089-C343D5B209C5.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP5zl9kq_r5Cej7VuE19L-HVC4ejT-Uz8mximBsAvPzocRdun26pJQbjEC0UAP7QOWjUw0LqZgQtvVisXCu1tPScQZjiA5CEj8w1psL6fhN4kiVqJgEUTGgXkEzi_3nxkRQZCW6v1Vifc/w400-h300/0DC4F344-5E4C-44DF-A089-C343D5B209C5.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><p>I have managed to grow something that is actually edible! I planted some expensive heritage pumpkin seeds (the 2 little pumpkins in the front). They were not hugely successful but then, out of the compost heap came a vine which produced 8 beautiful kent pumpkins! I feel like such a successful gardener even though I did nothing to make them grow!</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpmwxG8hMD9EWoCGEIScYZqH1d9B5B_gJVcQxY1O8VoXn5PHFB5WVY7czp8VSOdzX_uNGIo6F8Vzb_RT8wlz_YDNa3V2SOMERy5HOo5t1m6Z-BeJNKraNGTuANLXEDkKV1w3IFDITPqdw/s2048/00DDE524-6441-4941-BA2B-7EF2602BA202_1_201_a.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1460" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpmwxG8hMD9EWoCGEIScYZqH1d9B5B_gJVcQxY1O8VoXn5PHFB5WVY7czp8VSOdzX_uNGIo6F8Vzb_RT8wlz_YDNa3V2SOMERy5HOo5t1m6Z-BeJNKraNGTuANLXEDkKV1w3IFDITPqdw/w285-h400/00DDE524-6441-4941-BA2B-7EF2602BA202_1_201_a.jpeg" width="285" /></a></div><p>We do go to the shops when we need food but I am trying to use random things up in the freezer. This smoothie was so YUM and a big hit! In my little food blender I first did frozen raspberries and milk, poured them into 4 glasses and then blended up frozen mango with fresh orange juice and carefully poured that on top. Nice with our Sunday morning breakfast before on-line church :)<br /></p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbCkl_YsvygDR5jPrIpQKEAC-LXDGzBUrpFnuxRtC_OQrN0GHHzMaUO4nZ2PB7-MuuFqR5Ll0Ony3hS-ePsaqd7heq42cJxIJUxcHgiczQoDWwreFJ5nlrpweblXLhdEttw3mVA6bORRo/s2048/2DE44EEE-DCB4-43CC-BFC5-9295A608D0B8_1_201_a.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1591" data-original-width="2048" height="311" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbCkl_YsvygDR5jPrIpQKEAC-LXDGzBUrpFnuxRtC_OQrN0GHHzMaUO4nZ2PB7-MuuFqR5Ll0Ony3hS-ePsaqd7heq42cJxIJUxcHgiczQoDWwreFJ5nlrpweblXLhdEttw3mVA6bORRo/w400-h311/2DE44EEE-DCB4-43CC-BFC5-9295A608D0B8_1_201_a.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><p>I'd love to show you some amazing big projects that I have been making in lockdown but in reality I am enjoying finishing off things that have been sitting around for ages, like this lumbar roll I have been meaning to cover for ages. It combines so many things I love... recycling newspapers, origami, quick & easy, gardening, FREE, gift idea and fun!</p><p>I found the idea <a href="https://thethingswellmake.com/quick-diy-origami-newspaper-pots/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">HERE</a> at the blog called "Oh The Things We'll Make!" <br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqBPchwHJsES5MrRvWEVBYk4OZobx_huXQ_5RD3W8JLzxV8f3U796zjzCA99nfffSKiH5SjRYVqTgZexezerWIREZqaANNxjY8mDIstluXmPFCWgtHTcWG_tGLNJNxYi_OJgrqdXsKakY/s587/Screen+Shot+2021-05-31+at+4.51.20+pm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="587" data-original-width="567" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqBPchwHJsES5MrRvWEVBYk4OZobx_huXQ_5RD3W8JLzxV8f3U796zjzCA99nfffSKiH5SjRYVqTgZexezerWIREZqaANNxjY8mDIstluXmPFCWgtHTcWG_tGLNJNxYi_OJgrqdXsKakY/s320/Screen+Shot+2021-05-31+at+4.51.20+pm.png" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">credit: https://thethingswellmake.com/quick-diy-origami-newspaper-pots/</span><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><p></p><p>The pots are easy to make using one page of a newspaper (or half a full spread page). There are clear instructions plus a video on the blog, so you can't go wrong. You buy some seed raising mix and plant your seeds, watering gently. Then, when they look fairly established, you don't have to traumatize your plants by taking them out of their snug soil bed to replant them, you just sink the whole pot into the soil and it will disintegrate as the roots grow. </p><p>I am always looking for little gift ideas and this one is great! You place 5 or 6 collapsed pots inside an open pot, place it in a gift bag together with a snap lock bag of seedling mix soil and a packet of seeds. So nice!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVaW7scrYz0etaB0Rqc0WBrz8s4vbTVr8GhRVzXJNv2G0vm9hNiwrlRt94C6p8SJgrrQyWvmG9aZN-pl23d0TiUUzu4p0yI-P7qjq2tl8S-6s3zuwbuh7_JiKZ0tikTsfg1plEYi-G_Ng/s585/Screen+Shot+2021-05-31+at+4.56.43+pm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="585" data-original-width="552" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVaW7scrYz0etaB0Rqc0WBrz8s4vbTVr8GhRVzXJNv2G0vm9hNiwrlRt94C6p8SJgrrQyWvmG9aZN-pl23d0TiUUzu4p0yI-P7qjq2tl8S-6s3zuwbuh7_JiKZ0tikTsfg1plEYi-G_Ng/s320/Screen+Shot+2021-05-31+at+4.56.43+pm.png" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">credit: https://thethingswellmake.com/quick-diy-origami-newspaper-pots/</span></div><p><br /></p>Diana Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00044587525695598254noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785335077184888003.post-56486760864742290592020-05-21T17:03:00.000+10:002020-05-21T17:03:32.122+10:00Stay At Home: Craft Challenge 3: Create something inspired by our theme of 'Beauty'<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So often we buy a kit when we are on holidays and then we get back to real life and it goes in the cupboard... unfinished. Well, this sweet embroidery was started in Thailand and now it is finishd and on her wall. It was not her intention to be living back at home for so long and a few months is going to turn into most of 2020 she thinks! So setting up and decorating her room has meant she still has a little haven of her own in a very busy house.<br />
Lovely embroidery Annalee!<br />

<span style="color: orange;"><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></span></span>I love the way Bev wrote to me that she had some lovely silk ribbon "resting in her stash".<br />
Well during her isolation, she woke the ribbon up from it's rest and made this pretty garden of flowers! Thanks Bev. That is a perfect way to take on Challenge #2 to make something to decorate your home!<br />

Marion has a pretty garden and also lives across the road from some classic Aussie Bush.<br />
Her take on Challenge#2 was to make up some floral arrangements from flowers and greenery she found around her house. To be even more resourceful, she used mugs as vases. I hope she did actually decorate her house with one of these pretty arrangements because a little bird told me she drove around and delivered some to some dear friends who were in isolation in their homes. You are always so thoughtful Marion!<br />

Being at home during Covid-19 has been tricky in some ways (with 6 lovely adults in our house!) and nice in other ways. But have you ever felt like me? You hang out to do certain creative or fun projects when you just have a bit of time.... then when the free time comes, you don't feel like it? I lost my oomph and so went out into the garden and pottered, just doing things that took my fancy. One project was to do some propagating. Water propagation is the most effective and so I thought I'd gather vases, bottles and an old glass platter (an old wedding present) and make a pretty display of them. If the take root then that will be an added bonus!<br />

<span style="color: orange;"><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">Entry #5 - Kay</span></span></span><br />
A box of quilling papers were donated to The Craft Group. Hmmm, what can we do with it? We could teach quilling but that has been done in the past. Been there, done that. So what do I do with it all? Of course I give it to Kay and ask her about what a modern version of quilling might look like! And yet again, Kay did not disappoint! This is her entry for this challenge "Something to decorate your home". Kay, it is absolutely gorgeous! She said she would have liked to put it in a bigger frame but, like many of us, is avoiding the shops for now. If anyone from our group would like to learn quilling later on, just let me know. I might be able to look around for someone to teach it! ;) This really is a lovely modern and fresh way to do quilling! Thanks for your entry Kay!<span style="color: orange;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></span><br />

Harriet! You are amazing in the way you encourage people
with the cards you make and send! Thanks for being part of the
challenge!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I must tell you all... last week was my Dad's 92nd birthday. With Covid-19 all around, only myself and my daughter visited him. We came scrubbed, covered, gloves on and gave no hugs!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We brought some shopping for him and Mum and had fun chatting and interpreting some phone calls to dad (He is deaf). But alas... no other visitors were allowed. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then, creative, thoughtful and musical Harriet and her husband, Ross went to my parents front yard and sang "Happy Birthday" to Dad through the window. He would not have been able to hear it but would have seen the gusto of the singers and would have been able to hear every note in his mind. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(Eek!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was so pleased to hear when she returned back home! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She made it just in time to be allowed to go to her own house and self isolate for 2 weeks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thankfully Lyn and Jack are both well. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A while ago Jack made a craft studio outside for Lyn.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm sure it helped to pass the time when she had to stay home!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I guess these beautiful cards are really 'Quarantine Cards".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks Lyn ... and welcome home! </div>

Phone calls are great but at times when you are stressed or grieving or busy, receiving a card is so special. You know there was genuine, loving effort put into the sentiment when you receive a card. You can read it over and over to be encouraged and you don't have to feel compelled to know what to say in return.</div>

<div>
Make the most of it!<br />
<br />
I have been home for 3 days... I am not in lockdown, just being careful.<br />
I still have to work at school for 2 days a week while it is open.<br />
Sadly The Craft Group has been cancelled. BUT, even though there are many sad terrible things going on at the moment, I am thankful for the gift of Time. And I plan to use it well.<br />
<br />
So far I have turned our loungeroom into a bedroom for our 28 year old who has moved back home for a while (the spare bedroom is our new office - which I am not parting with!) I also ... without paying a cent, have made a music and art room! I'll share how I did it with you one day!<br />
<br />
I have also caught up with a whole basket of ironing!<br />
<br />
I have hundreds of projects I could do at home. But it's not just about keeping busy. Looking after our mental health is very, very important at this time.<br />
<br />
It is important to have a routine, which I am going to struggle with (I am, unfortunately, rather spontaneous and easily distracted!)<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
Here are some ideas of things to do at home:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ol>
<li>Do The Craft Group fortnightly challenges! (Watch this blog for details!)</li>
<li> TELEPHONE FRIENDS you have not caught up with for a while.</li>
<li>Sort your craft area or cupboard!</li>
<li>Find some sealed goods in your home and DELIVER THEM TO AN ELDERLY NEIGHBOUR (e.g. a can of soup, packet of biscuits, roll of toilet paper)</li>
<li>Read through a book of the BIBLE like a detective eg. Read the book of Luke and make note of How Jesus loved people. </li>
<li>Does your balcony face others? Have an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=15&v=Q734VN0N7hw&feature=emb_logo" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">open air neighbourhood sing-a-long</a>! Like they did in Italy.</li>
<li>DO CRAFT! Yes, bust out some of those unfinished projects or start something you have been wanting time to do.... or look out for our challenges!</li>
<li>Sort your digital PHOTOS!</li>
<li>Send some photos away online and have themPRINTED (and home delivered of course).</li>
<li>Google EXERCISE ROUTINES and get moving in your loungeroom. I love the Philippines Zumba. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/livelovepartyTV" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">LIVE LOVE PARTY</a> Random suggestion, I know, but so much fun!</li>
<li>Or if you are feeling stressed, you really should do some of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0n6WQ3_PAePXz_IZzXZFGA" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">CAROLINE WILLIAMS YOGA. </a>So good for your body and soul!</li>
<li>Go for a WALK! Alone or with your dog :)</li>
<li>Go to a <a href="https://www.travelandleisure.com/attractions/museums-galleries/museums-with-virtual-tours?fbclid=IwAR0ZYbPoBUE11db8Uzr3CQVrbqpe_xeOJLqc18rEfm_Px8g1UCem6uDr6BM" target="_blank">MUSEUM ONLINE</a> and enjoy at tour without even leaving your home!</li>
<li>Go online and buy a GIFT CERTIFICATE for a restaurant or small business that might be doing it tough. They need some income and you can go out twice as much after all the home isolation is over and it will feel like you are spending half the amount!</li>
<li>Did I already say... do The Craft Group craft challenges?</li>
</ol>

SIGH<br />
A lot changes in a week!!!<br />
I have always been committed to following any Government recommendations and so I have had to make the hard decision to CANCEL THE CRAFT GROUP UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.<br />
Staying home does not mean worrying. There is less to be worried about if you stay home and we will be in touch in other ways! I am expecting some amazing "Show 'N Tell" projects when we meet again! And stay tuned on this blog :) I promise to put new posts up! Diana xxx<br />

<br />
OLD MESSAGE OUT OF DATE AFTER 2 DAYS! <br />
For those of you who physically attend The Craft Group, we need to think about how to responsibly care for each other during this Corona Virus Pandemic.<br />
<br />
If you would like to read more about my thoughts, or get some accurate information about COVID-19, you can read my <a href="http://thecraftgroupplus.blogspot.com/2020/03/look-after-each-other.html" target="_blank">BLOG POST HERE</a>.<br />
<br />
Our next Craft Group gathering is in 5 days time and a LOT can happen in 5 days these days!!!<br />
<br />
I will use this blog to let you know what is happening this coming thursday 19/3/2020.<br />
<br />
I know that coming to The Craft Group is incredibly important for many women for many different reasons and I certainly wouldn't cancel it without very good reason.<br />
<br />
IF it is on this week, we will do a few things differently:<br />
<br />
Please don't come if you feel sick!<br />
We will disinfect tables and chairs before you arrive.<br />
You will be asked to wash your hands when you arrive.<br />
Hand sanitiser will be available.<br />
Please bring a plastic bag containing your own mug, plate and napkin then take them home to wash.<br />
Please bring your own morning Tea!<br />
(We will have things for those ladies who do not see this message).<br />
Coffee and Tea will be provided!<br />
Bring your own craft gear. No shared resources at this stage!<br />
<br />
Yay for us women who know how to take action, out of love for others, to kerb the spread of this infection!<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: 12pt; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;">
<span style="color: #f4b183; font-family: "helvetica,bold" , serif;">Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.<br />Not as the world gives do I give to you.<br />Let not our hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. <br />
I hope you are doing OK during this surreal chapter in the world entitled "Corona Virus".<br />
In Australia, we have had some strong chapter headings lately. "Drought," "Fires," "Floods" & "Panic buying" just to name a few!<br />
<br />
I am not panicking. I am not stressed. I have a great God who gives us Hope, Courage and Peace because He is in control and has Purposes beyond our comprehension. Each new day I come to Him to bring Him all my needs. I pray that you can do that too.<br />
<br />
But now I want to talk about selfishness.<br />
In a society like Australia, we are brave and resilient. We carry on and get out there and help one another. And so our instinct is to have a "She'll be right" attitude. The problem is that if we don't take the World Health Organisation's advice seriously, "He" or "She" might not be alright!<br />
<br />
It is not all about me.<br />
It is not all about you.<br />
It is about the vulnerable members of our community.<br />
People with underlying health issues.<br />
People like my Mum and Dad in their 80's and 90's.<br />
People like my friends who have diabetes.<br />
<br />
Last night we went to an open plan restaurant for dinner, thinking it might be the last time in a while that we can do that. I was not embarrassed that I had disinfectant wipes for my table and chair and cutlery handles. But I was blown away by how many people were there, greeting each other with kisses and hugs. I heard a young man say that the media has gone crazy and there was no need to be so over-the-top.<br />
<br />
There are massive disappointments coming our way. In less than 4 weeks, I am due to fly out on a much anticipated trip to Israel and Jordan. That ain't happenin'! :( :(<br />
<br />
We all are going to have to sacrifice things so that others do not have to suffer this virus.<br />
<br />
SO... What is happening to The Craft Group? I will write another post about that!<br />
<br />
But in the meantime.<br />
Do not panic but be super vigilant!<br />
<br />
I get my main news from WHO (World Health Organisation)<br />
<a href="https://www.facebook.com/WHO/videos/809440392874881/" target="_blank">Let's LISTEN and ACT</a><br />
and<br />
<a href="https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public" target="_blank">THIS PAGE </a> has all the accurate info you need.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Be aware of how others are coping and care for each other. We are all in this together!Diana Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00044587525695598254noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785335077184888003.post-75349236252530397552020-02-20T16:20:00.000+11:002020-02-20T16:20:34.635+11:00Painted Rocks<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We may have rocks for brains but we are painting rocks!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love any art or craft with a community aspect to it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
People all over the world are painting rocks then hiding them somewhere in a public place where someone else might find them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Making a surprise discovery of a little painted gem is sometimes all it takes to brighten someone's day. The idea is that people can leave the pebble where they found it, keep it or re-hide it!</div>

Some people like to follow their rock's journey. There are many facebook pages to help them do this.<br />
I like the fb page <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/NSWROCKS/" target="_blank">NSW ROCKS</a>. If you join the group and check out their "files", you will find many resources about how to paint rocks. I like their emphasis on not ruining the environment you place them in. For example, no goggly eyes or stickers that could come off. If you want to track your rock, you write fb NSW ROCKS on the back and the postcode where you first hid the rock.Check it out and be inspired to play rock Hide-and-Seek!Diana Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00044587525695598254noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785335077184888003.post-91208591832589168572020-01-14T11:44:00.000+11:002020-01-14T11:52:15.377+11:00Healthy snacks<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

But they are not always good for me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Except these!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1) A slice of cucumber, cream cheese, smoked salmon and chives.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2) Half a cherry tomato, a basil leaf, half a bocconcini ball, toothpick together then sprinkle with balsamic vinegar.</div>

Sooo good. And so good for you too!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">It's a new year!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">New resolutions.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">New expectations.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">God's Blessings?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">What does that actually mean?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">More health, wealth and happiness?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">Hmmm... it is tempting!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">But maybe... well more than maybe...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">God sees things differently.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">The Bible shows a clear picture </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">that life is more than just having things go really well for us.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">A life well lived is one where we have a relationship with Jesus.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">Being adopted as a child of God.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">Knowing our real purpose for being here,</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">knowing we are loved.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">Knowing a peace that defies normal logic.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">So, I do wish you a blessed new year!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">A year where God blesses you</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">in the richest way He knows how.</span></div>

These are good because they are super cute!<br />
Elly gets old golf balls from the golf course and cleans them up, undercoats them and paints them into fun creatures for the garden.<br />
Then she sells them to raise money to help her daughter-in-law pay for some of her diabetes equipment.<br />

This fits in so well with our theme this year!</div>

2019 - RENEW</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Enter Nicola!<br />
Nicola has come to our area, our church family and to our Craft Group with her lovely family and her amazing creativity.<br />
She kindly agreed to running 4 floral workshops this year. We are SO excited.<br />
<br />
Flowers are beautiful, cheerful, miraculous, soothing, amazing and often... expensive!<br />
So our first workshop was about how to make a lovely posie of flowers using a grocery store bunch of flowers with clippings of all sorts of flora from our own garden.<br />
<br />
We all made a beautiful bunch of flowers definitely worth giving as a gift for only $15. They actually looked a million dollars. (Maybe slight exaggeration.)<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Tips from Nicola:<br />
* Buy fresh flowers, a mixed bunch is good, ensuring one flower would make a good main focal flower to start with.<br />
* Cut the ends of the stems with sharp snips or secateurs at a slight angle.<br />
* Go hunting in your garden. We had Lavender and Rosemary and Lemon scented geranium as well as some Eucalyptus leaves and more. (Our posies smelt divine!)<br />
* Lay out all your pieces, cutting them to length and removing any foliage on the lower 1/3 of the stems.<br />
* Start with a feature flower in your less dominant hand. Keep adding other stems, turning your bunch clockwise as you go. If you angle each stem slightly, they should twist a bit like a stack of spaghetti making them settle nicely later in a vase.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
* Now... Trust yourself! Look and add. Add and look. If you don't like it, you can put it all down and start again. But this is not meant to look perfectly neat. It is a beautiful and organic looking posie made with love - not frustration ;)<br />
* Tie your posie with some twine to hold it together.<br />
* Roll in brown paper and tie with a ribbon and present it to yourself or someone else you love.<br />
<br />
Here are some pics of the day.<br />

Beginners crochet - how to hold the hookQuestion: What is the right way to hold a crochet hook?<br />
Answer: There is no right way to hold it!<br />
<br />
That's not very helpful, I know.<br />
Kay taught our beginner crochet class and wow did we see interesting ways to hold a hook!<br />
<br />
We made some conclusions:<br />
1) Holding a crochet hook does not feel natural at first and you need to chain, chain, chain until you get into some sort of natural hold.<br />
2) Many people have filed away in the recesses of their mind, a childhood memory of learning to crochet. Trying out different methods is a good idea (rather than doing what one person tells you). You will find that one way seems more possible than others and it may just be because that is how you tried it as a child.<br />
3) If you chain chain chain, you will start to think more about the chain and yarn and less about your fingers - they will start to look after themselves.<br />
4) Constantly relax your hand and arm muscles. If you don't consciously do this you will get aches you'd rather do without.<br />
5) Please teach the children in your life to crochet when they are young! Even if they don't get right into it, they will have a much better chance of learning it later when they are older and decide they want to relearn how to crochet.<br />
6) Search on You Tube "How to hold a crochet Hook" for different ideas. It doesn't matter at this stage if it is from the UK, Aus or USA. I could not find one single person who holds their hook and yarn the same as me. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjmNmyJLin8" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">IN THIS VIDEO OF 3 METHODS</a>, I am a mixture of the 2nd and 3rd demo.<br />
<br />
Now... you are ready for your first crochet project using just chain chain chains!<br />
Doing oodles of chains are the best way to relax into your own relaxed hold.<br />

1. Go to the beach and collect sea glass. It's better than collecting shells because it is actually removing rubbish from the ocean but feels like you are finding treasure!<br>

If you are an ambitious sock knitter, then this is the sort of 'next step' project for you!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Janelle found this project on Ravelry. (You may have to set up a free account to see it.)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Every day before Christmas, Janelle received another small part of the sock pattern.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiopIiEohw98yxW7YejSXOq3e5b5_HOaBsnYht3ZD82RFwQ5JgQENDggyFH8eMx-KuK8TJCLeZsu3qaJxLJY0PJZEo0sJbm5A8uSs0VVz7VKZv9Nu6vrkQA7Hr5QqgrsBNHDSj7n0W8vK0/s1600/1+janelle+socks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1272" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiopIiEohw98yxW7YejSXOq3e5b5_HOaBsnYht3ZD82RFwQ5JgQENDggyFH8eMx-KuK8TJCLeZsu3qaJxLJY0PJZEo0sJbm5A8uSs0VVz7VKZv9Nu6vrkQA7Hr5QqgrsBNHDSj7n0W8vK0/s400/1+janelle+socks.jpg" width="317" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Each day another part of the festive sock pattern was revealed.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
From the crazy toes to the wise owls, there were many fun challenges.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One sock was knitted toe to top and the other was knitted top to toe.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's my sister's birthday today so here is a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to her!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She is, amongst other things (kind, caring, adventurous), a great blanket knitter. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She knows I love blue and so she made me this knitted blanket.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She uses a circular needle and off she goes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Enjoy your day Jeanette!</div>

Just like a good coffee is addictive... so is crochet!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The crochet bug has hit us big time at The Craft Group.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Kay is teaching basic BASIC beginners crochet to some ladies who are fantastic at crafts but somehow missed out on learning how to crochet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Elly is a paper craft guru but thought she'd see if she can remember how to crochet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The result...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheGF0rxaKFnVBOvdgZjHDqR_fe_H6ubYZL9M4SW0RWZbkWYMco602Dp-0KIGBiyD2mHmcfVEaAS1A_6aW3jLJO-hMYV4IRNVjc8PQmfrpD5_nDsrWfjOnn98bmgeHeoesUTLIsrEic5Wo/s1600/1.+elly+crochet+mug+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheGF0rxaKFnVBOvdgZjHDqR_fe_H6ubYZL9M4SW0RWZbkWYMco602Dp-0KIGBiyD2mHmcfVEaAS1A_6aW3jLJO-hMYV4IRNVjc8PQmfrpD5_nDsrWfjOnn98bmgeHeoesUTLIsrEic5Wo/s400/1.+elly+crochet+mug+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So Cute!</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A crocheted Mug of coffee as a pin cushion is a great little project and of course Elly's is just perfect!</div>

Kind of a theme for her year.<br />
Something to remind her of her goals.<br />
Something to help her remember what is important.<br />
At The Craft Group we have a 'word' too!<br />
The word for 2018 is "Thankful"<br />
Pam shared a great song about being thankful.<br />
Here it is!<br />

There are some ladies in our midst with a deep dark secret... they can't crochet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We have had many crochet projects over the years and these select few otherwise crafty ladies stood by and admired the projects but apologised that they were too busy to join in this time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But ... because we are so kind and accepting ... confessions were made, situations understood and an Absolutely Beginners Crochet Class is about to begin. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
No judgement ;)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
No discrimination.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just lots of giggles and patient tuition!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To start with... we are learning how to hold your hook and yarn, make a slip knot and make a chain.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I will add some links here soon for our cyber friends to learn along with the group.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Get ready by finding some 8 ply yarn and a size 4mm hook (also called an 8).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

After a lovely break over Christmas and summer, The Craft Group is gathering again tomorrow for our Enrolment morning tea. So watch this space for new and inspiring projects!Diana Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00044587525695598254noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785335077184888003.post-22196306978852446052017-11-07T22:04:00.002+11:002017-11-07T22:04:40.730+11:00A finished quilt by Dianne<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
One thing I love about The Craft Group is how we bounce ideas off each other and spur one other on to finish things and accomplish craft greatness :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
(Sorry, that was 2 things... and there are more things than that I must say.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Dianne B started a quilt for her baby grand daughter to lay on when on the floor.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But the quilt went into hiding at the back of a cupboard.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Enter Elaine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
With encouragement and help, Elaine and Dianne saw the quilt exit the cupboard and enter the light of day. That little grand daughter will LOVE this quilt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Perfect for a six year old girl ;) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

How can such a beautiful quilt be captured in a photo? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, firstly, recruit some capable chair climbers. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVltmkKTSilqNvnshKbvmsAL1AU6umAZHJjdcEz1S6-EcA5RTMqREXzqm6wKDQ3hpRZDUdqcrdPvkLnH03BQF3decqFgIGsgjoMZpwZYu53GzzyqxEH_egzIFjdo5iXzDc9ub37yfCn6Y/s1600/20170601_113441.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1287" data-original-width="1600" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVltmkKTSilqNvnshKbvmsAL1AU6umAZHJjdcEz1S6-EcA5RTMqREXzqm6wKDQ3hpRZDUdqcrdPvkLnH03BQF3decqFgIGsgjoMZpwZYu53GzzyqxEH_egzIFjdo5iXzDc9ub37yfCn6Y/s320/20170601_113441.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Set up, move them to another position for better light and then set up again, 3 times. (Sorry girls!)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqCs7krAKWvzky-EB34mfBF8u7oQGN50ssEEiDIN1Nsk5HX2ZZiAMsk4h9zP2d4wPPbwF0MJ-DN41ypq1rBlgBwssuIp0LFcFz0I0eF6pTO0LVGmmIEdHcEGuZ-96Vm4tGpAIC94jJfFw/s1600/20170601_113507.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1585" data-original-width="1600" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqCs7krAKWvzky-EB34mfBF8u7oQGN50ssEEiDIN1Nsk5HX2ZZiAMsk4h9zP2d4wPPbwF0MJ-DN41ypq1rBlgBwssuIp0LFcFz0I0eF6pTO0LVGmmIEdHcEGuZ-96Vm4tGpAIC94jJfFw/s400/20170601_113507.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Try and coax Ida into the photo...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ta da!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6SSKz6xTaLm336pazvugPUZi36PMHHHwrPGHMPOyCU50xzUrto0R1VZmaRtLBs-Z_sBafFBL11L-yHcwpflAA7gp1Szf_C75Wt4D9E3jv0WbEZtfz-cI9InlMWCUjhKlw_qYXY84Pb6s/s1600/20170601_113518.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1273" data-original-width="1600" height="317" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6SSKz6xTaLm336pazvugPUZi36PMHHHwrPGHMPOyCU50xzUrto0R1VZmaRtLBs-Z_sBafFBL11L-yHcwpflAA7gp1Szf_C75Wt4D9E3jv0WbEZtfz-cI9InlMWCUjhKlw_qYXY84Pb6s/s400/20170601_113518.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ida lovingly made this quilt and is thinking of sending it to her sister in Europe... IF she likes it!?!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Posting it from Australia across all that water is a bit scary but I'm sure it will be OK. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The alternative of course is that she sends me to hand deliver it! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are some close up peeks:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is machine pieced with hand stitched applique and then she had it professionally machine quilted.</div>
