'Rose of Sharon' Crochet Blanket by Bev.

This is the heaviest, warmest crocheted quilt I have ever felt.
Bev made it from a pattern book which uses images from the Bible to base it's patterns on.

This one is called "The Rose of Sharon".






Isn't it beautiful? All the ladies who are coming to the group, or watching this blog for the crocheted flower patterns will be able to move onto bigger and greater things like this! What an inspiration Bev!

    I've made a few of these in my life time. they are gorgeous! and yes one of the heavier afghans. Her colors are the same one's i use. it's seems to look the best for this pattern. I've seen other colors used and they just don't seem to do the afghans justice. GOOD JOB!! :D

    Hi Jenny, someone else asked me this and Bev said she has a book with the pattern in it. I have not been able to find the exact pattern free on line. I will ask Bev for the name of the book, so I will get back to you on that.

A project a day! I have so many photos of lovely things which have not yet appeared here on the blog. So, I am featuring a new craft item every day for 2 weeks, all made by ladies at The Craft Group. To continue… Project 5: Mitred Granny Squares by Janice Crocheted Granny Squares are in again and, as with all come-backs, there are clever variations. These mitred* squares are eye catching and can look stunning depending on the colours used. Janice made this green one which has a lovely 3D effect made by her use of various tones of graduating greens. It looks stunning in a whole finished rug. (*also spelt 'Mitered', depending on where you live).  Janice is then working on some other squares using bright coloured stripes, giving the finished product a completely different look. Lantern making... a craft for kids

The school holidays are nearly over. Some kids have one more week. Why not get creative and make some pretty lanterns to hang in your bedroom? (Caitlin and Ryan... if you make one and take a photo, I'll put it on the blog!) A teacher at school made these with her grade 3 class.  I was the photographer, so I captured the pictorial step-by-step instructions.
