History

The Craft Group started at our Church in Sydney, in 1992. The congregation had just moved to a new suburb and it was a great time to offer a service to the ladies in our local community.
At first the group offered a variety of classes each term. As well as these classes, there was a "Finish the Unfinished " Group of maybe only 2-3 ladies. Now, nearly 20 years down the track, the majority of ladies come along and want to work on their own projects. There are occasionally classes for people to learn new skills but most ladies work alongside their fellow crafts women to share ideas, patterns and skills in the crafts they love the best. Each Craft morning is from 9:30 am to 11:30. At 10:30 we stop for morning tea and have announcements and any 'Show and Tell's that are ready. There is also a "Thought from the Bible" each day which is a short (4 min!) talk by one of the ladies about one of the most important things we can think about. Our relationship with God. There is always something to think about, ponder, share or be encouraged by. The atmosphere of the mornings is very relaxed and friendly. We meet for 7 weeks each term and then have a break over the holidays (a bit long according to some!) We have special events throughout each term and a "Swap Shop" where ladies can bring things they no longer need and place them on the table and take something themselves if they see a treasure there for themselves.
