Maxine's first quilt finished!

Why do I love being involved in The Craft Group?
I love seeing women achieve something.
That something could be...
* learning a new skill
* making new friends
* finishing something off they started ages ago
* having a much needed break in a busy week
* understanding God better
* Getting to know Jesus... by hearing others share about Him
* taking on a project and being completely satisfied at the end by seeing a job well done... 
even if it takes 2 years.

And this last point leads me on to introduce to you Maxine's first quilt.
With kids in the creche to have loads of fun with Pam, Maxine started from scratch and learnt all the tricks of the trade from Elaine. (Well maybe not ALL the tricks of the trade, that would take an eternity.) She started with a fully hand pieced and hand quilted sampler quilt.



Well done Maxine!
I hope you enjoy your first winter with your pretty quilt!

These cute little Christmas stockings were made by Mandy. There was no real pattern to follow so we worked it out easily enough by sharing crochet know how and made little stocking decorations until they were everywhere. Wil and Bev G made a heap! Here are some pictures and a pattern! A pentagon granny square folded in half to make a little stocking. Make them in whatever colour you like! Add some sparkle :) or a bell on the toe! Lantern making... a craft for kids

The school holidays are nearly over. Some kids have one more week. Why not get creative and make some pretty lanterns to hang in your bedroom? (Caitlin and Ryan... if you make one and take a photo, I'll put it on the blog!) A teacher at school made these with her grade 3 class.  I was the photographer, so I captured the pictorial step-by-step instructions.

Mitred Granny Squares by Janice

A project a day! I have so many photos of lovely things which have not yet appeared here on the blog. So, I am featuring a new craft item every day for 2 weeks, all made by ladies at The Craft Group. To continue… Project 5: Mitred Granny Squares by Janice Crocheted Granny Squares are in again and, as with all come-backs, there are clever variations. These mitred* squares are eye catching and can look stunning depending on the colours used. Janice made this green one which has a lovely 3D effect made by her use of various tones of graduating greens. It looks stunning in a whole finished rug. (*also spelt 'Mitered', depending on where you live).  Janice is then working on some other squares using bright coloured stripes, giving the finished product a completely different look.
