A Fun quilt by Karin FINISHED!

Karin is the one still trying to finish the baby cross stitch for her son before he moves out of home!
Well, maybe it's because other fun projects come in between!
Karin went on a quilters weekend away.
Everyone who registered for the weekend received a pattern and a bit of background grey fabric.
They were all told to make a square using any batik designed fabric and bring it along.

If you brought one square, you get one ticket in the draw. If you brought 2 finished squares, you get 2 tickets etc.

There were a few different prizes apparently but Karin won the coveted prize of all the little squares. She then had to put them together and quilt them, but that is not so bad when all the squares have been made for you!

Now, get on with that cross stitch!

These cute little Christmas stockings were made by Mandy. There was no real pattern to follow so we worked it out easily enough by sharing crochet know how and made little stocking decorations until they were everywhere. Wil and Bev G made a heap! Lantern making... a craft for kids

The school holidays are nearly over. Some kids have one more week. Why not get creative and make some pretty lanterns to hang in your bedroom? (Caitlin and Ryan... if you make one and take a photo, I'll put it on the blog!) A teacher at school made these with her grade 3 class.  I was the photographer, so I captured the pictorial step-by-step instructions.

Mitred Granny Squares by Janice

A project a day! I have so many photos of lovely things which have not yet appeared here on the blog. So, I am featuring a new craft item every day for 2 weeks, all made by ladies at The Craft Group. To continue… Project 5: Mitred Granny Squares by Janice Crocheted Granny Squares are in again and, as with all come-backs, there are clever variations. These mitred* squares are eye catching and can look stunning depending on the colours used. Janice made this green one which has a lovely 3D effect made by her use of various tones of graduating greens. It looks stunning in a whole finished rug. (*also spelt 'Mitered', depending on where you live).  Janice is then working on some other squares using bright coloured stripes, giving the finished product a completely different look.
