Hand Made Scarf

I would like to show off this warm cosy scarf.
It was hand knitted by my Mum, Wil, using alpaca wool.
But that's not all...


The alpaca wool was hand spun by my Dad, John on the spinning wheel that sits in the corner of the lounge room.
What a great team effort hey!


Mark and I make a great team too. He earns money so I can spend it on craft. 
A good arrangement.

 Here is the knitter and spinner. They celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary this year.

 

Mum loves knitting but I'd be stretching the truth if I said that Dad loves spinning (even though he is very good at it). He learnt it in his youth, out of necessity I think during the war in Holland. It's a bit like learning to ride a bike, once you know how to do it, you don't forget.

These cute little Christmas stockings were made by Mandy. There was no real pattern to follow so we worked it out easily enough by sharing crochet know how and made little stocking decorations until they were everywhere. Wil and Bev G made a heap! Lantern making... a craft for kids

The school holidays are nearly over. Some kids have one more week. Why not get creative and make some pretty lanterns to hang in your bedroom? (Caitlin and Ryan... if you make one and take a photo, I'll put it on the blog!) A teacher at school made these with her grade 3 class.  I was the photographer, so I captured the pictorial step-by-step instructions.

A project a day! I have so many photos of lovely things which have not yet appeared here on the blog. So, I am featuring a new craft item every day for 2 weeks, all made by ladies at The Craft Group. To continue… Project 5: Mitred Granny Squares by Janice Crocheted Granny Squares are in again and, as with all come-backs, there are clever variations. These mitred* squares are eye catching and can look stunning depending on the colours used. Janice made this green one which has a lovely 3D effect made by her use of various tones of graduating greens. It looks stunning in a whole finished rug. (*also spelt 'Mitered', depending on where you live).  Janice is then working on some other squares using bright coloured stripes, giving the finished product a completely different look.
