Our 20th Anniversary Celebrations - Craft!

All this week I am featuring photos of our 20th Anniversary Celebration Day.

At 9am many ladies made the most of the day by coming into the smaller hall in the church, sitting at our lovely big hired round tables to do craft craft craft.


What was the main activity in this room? Craft or chatting?
Either way, it was a lovely way to chill out from normal daily routine and spend the time together.
Thanks to Wil (Mum!) and Mien for providing us with a lovely morning tea!
Thanks for the ladies who came all day, you are so friendly and encouraging to each other!

These cute little Christmas stockings were made by Mandy. There was no real pattern to follow so we worked it out easily enough by sharing crochet know how and made little stocking decorations until they were everywhere. Wil and Bev G made a heap! Here are some pictures and a pattern! A pentagon granny square folded in half to make a little stocking. Make them in whatever colour you like! Add some sparkle :) or a bell on the toe! Lantern making... a craft for kids

The school holidays are nearly over. Some kids have one more week. Why not get creative and make some pretty lanterns to hang in your bedroom? (Caitlin and Ryan... if you make one and take a photo, I'll put it on the blog!) A teacher at school made these with her grade 3 class.  I was the photographer, so I captured the pictorial step-by-step instructions.

Mitred Granny Squares by Janice

A project a day! I have so many photos of lovely things which have not yet appeared here on the blog. So, I am featuring a new craft item every day for 2 weeks, all made by ladies at The Craft Group. To continue… Project 5: Mitred Granny Squares by Janice Crocheted Granny Squares are in again and, as with all come-backs, there are clever variations. These mitred* squares are eye catching and can look stunning depending on the colours used. Janice made this green one which has a lovely 3D effect made by her use of various tones of graduating greens. It looks stunning in a whole finished rug. (*also spelt 'Mitered', depending on where you live).  Janice is then working on some other squares using bright coloured stripes, giving the finished product a completely different look.
