6 petals - Crocheted Flower No.1

We have 7 different crocheted flowers to show you and a tutorial for each one!
I am very excited.
Jenny showed us how to make our first flower.
Here it is...

Basic 6 Petal flower
sc= single crochet
dc = double crochet

·      Chain 6. Join 6th chain to the 1st chain to form a circle.
 


·      Sc (single crochet) into the circle 12 times. Slip stitch into the 1st sc. 



·      Chain 5. Slip into second sc. Repeat 5 times around the circle.  



      


·      In spaces created by the previous rounds chains, sc,3x dc, sc.  







·      Join to the first sc with a slip stitch. End off.

Lantern making... a craft for kids

The school holidays are nearly over. Some kids have one more week. Why not get creative and make some pretty lanterns to hang in your bedroom? (Caitlin and Ryan... if you make one and take a photo, I'll put it on the blog!) A project a day! I have so many photos of lovely things which have not yet appeared here on the blog. So, I am featuring a new craft item every day for 2 weeks, all made by ladies at The Craft Group. To continue… Project 5: Mitred Granny Squares by Janice Crocheted Granny Squares are in again and, as with all come-backs, there are clever variations. These mitred* squares are eye catching and can look stunning depending on the colours used. Janice made this green one which has a lovely 3D effect made by her use of various tones of graduating greens. It looks stunning in a whole finished rug. (*also spelt 'Mitered', depending on where you live).  Janice is then working on some other squares using bright coloured stripes, giving the finished product a completely different look.
