When is a card more than a card?


When the card is in a box and the box is a part of the card!


Elly made this one for Rita's birthday last monday (Happy Birthday Rita!)


Inside the pretty box is a folded card, tied together with a ribbon. It opens up and is full of pretty pictures, sayings and greetings. The ribbon is tied again to keep it in the open position.


Elly saw a picture of this card and even though she didn't have a pattern, was determined to figure it out. And figure it out she did! Then of course, what do you think happened next? She found a tutorial of how to make the card after she had already figured it out.

These cute little Christmas stockings were made by Mandy. There was no real pattern to follow so we worked it out easily enough by sharing crochet know how and made little stocking decorations until they were everywhere. Wil and Bev G made a heap! Lantern making... a craft for kids

The school holidays are nearly over. Some kids have one more week. Why not get creative and make some pretty lanterns to hang in your bedroom? (Caitlin and Ryan... if you make one and take a photo, I'll put it on the blog!) A teacher at school made these with her grade 3 class.  I was the photographer, so I captured the pictorial step-by-step instructions.

A project a day! I have so many photos of lovely things which have not yet appeared here on the blog. So, I am featuring a new craft item every day for 2 weeks, all made by ladies at The Craft Group. To continue… Project 5: Mitred Granny Squares by Janice Crocheted Granny Squares are in again and, as with all come-backs, there are clever variations. These mitred* squares are eye catching and can look stunning depending on the colours used. Janice made this green one which has a lovely 3D effect made by her use of various tones of graduating greens. It looks stunning in a whole finished rug. (*also spelt 'Mitered', depending on where you live).  Janice is then working on some other squares using bright coloured stripes, giving the finished product a completely different look.
