My Congratulations plate

Here is a blast from the past. Years ago Alison taught ceramic painting at "The Craft Group".



I made this plate which is fondly referred to as "The Congratulations Plate" in my household. Anyone who has a birthday or gets their licence or gets their braces off or finishes school... or anything worth celebrating, gets to eat dinner from this plate.


I like little family traditions.

    That is a lovely idea Diana.

    My family have a tradition of an ice cream dolly varden cake. I have had one every year of my life, that would be 40 something of them...lol and my girls have had 21 and, as of tomorrow 19 of these ice cream cakes (my baby is 19 tomorrow) Lucky I had girls to keep the family tradition going

These cute little Christmas stockings were made by Mandy. There was no real pattern to follow so we worked it out easily enough by sharing crochet know how and made little stocking decorations until they were everywhere. Wil and Bev G made a heap! Here are some pictures and a pattern! A pentagon granny square folded in half to make a little stocking. Make them in whatever colour you like! Add some sparkle :) or a bell on the toe! Lantern making... a craft for kids

The school holidays are nearly over. Some kids have one more week. Why not get creative and make some pretty lanterns to hang in your bedroom? (Caitlin and Ryan... if you make one and take a photo, I'll put it on the blog!) A teacher at school made these with her grade 3 class.  I was the photographer, so I captured the pictorial step-by-step instructions.

A project a day! I have so many photos of lovely things which have not yet appeared here on the blog. So, I am featuring a new craft item every day for 2 weeks, all made by ladies at The Craft Group. To continue… Project 5: Mitred Granny Squares by Janice Crocheted Granny Squares are in again and, as with all come-backs, there are clever variations. These mitred* squares are eye catching and can look stunning depending on the colours used. Janice made this green one which has a lovely 3D effect made by her use of various tones of graduating greens. It looks stunning in a whole finished rug. (*also spelt 'Mitered', depending on where you live).  Janice is then working on some other squares using bright coloured stripes, giving the finished product a completely different look.
